Tongue tie op for 5 month old

Hi my baby is 5 months and having his tongue tie op at Kings College hospital. I've been told to bring a teething gel to numb the area. Does anyone have any experience with an older baby getting the procedure done and what teething gel did you use if any? How was your baby during and after?

Thank you

they just snip it over an done within a minute.

My son had his done in October at 6 months old, and honestly, he hardly even made a fuss. I think he was more annoyed about being swaddled and held still than he was about the actual procedure.
I just gave him his bottle after and he drank it as normal.
I'd really worked myself up about it, and it was over and done with so quickly

@Baublesandtinsel @RalphieRooBear

Thanks for the responses and how is the recovery? Did the massages go well? X

The recovery was absolutely fine, honestly within minutes you wouldn't have know he'd had anything done at all!
It took a while to learn to hold a dummy in his mouth, but other than that, he was perfectly fine

@Jay185 Can I ask how the TT snip went? We’re looking at a referral - possibly to Kings too.

@poppet131

Hi, it was absolutely fine! He didn't fuss at all after it was done. My husband was in the room with him when it was being done, I was in the waiting room to breastfeed. The worst part was hearing him cry and then him coming out with a bit of blood in his mouth but he was absolutely fine.

@Jay185 Did the snip improve breastfeeding afterwards? How did you find doing the aftercare/exercises? We’re going private to get it done this weekend x
