Deferring primary school start

Can anyone help? My child is SEN, has diagnosed global developmental delay and non verbal. He is 3 1/2 and due to start nursery next September. We and his preschool agree that deferring him would be the best thing. I have visited a couple of primary schools and going to put them on the form saying where we want him to ultimately go. I have to write a letter to my first choice saying we'd like him to go there, reasons why and that I'd like to defer. Can someone help how to word this please? My heads all over the place..

Is he summer born (born between Apr 1st and Aug 31st)?

And what type of school is it? Independent or state? If state: community school, academy or faith-based?

If he is summer born then it’s possible. There is a really good Facebook page called flexible school admissions for summer born. Ask on there and there are example of letters. I’m currently going through the same thing with my youngest.

If he isn’t summer born then it would be best to ask on the sen board.

I did this for my DD.

Local authority handled admissions, so I sent them letters from nursery, her consultant and my preferred primary school all supporting a delayed start. Also had an ehcp applied for and referenced that.

Had been into see the head with the medical and nursery letters to talk to her and get her support-have you done that?
