5 month old behind on her milestones?

I feel like I’m holding her back or doing something wrong.

it says they are meant to recognise their name by now - she does not. Maybe because I call her a bunch of stuff and it will take longer for her to pick it up, I don’t know.

apparently they are meant to throw things and giggle when doing so?! No chance. My almost 5 month old is just a big 2 month old in terms of development.

my baby has started to roll on her side and arch her back as if she’s trying to roll, and she’s reaching for objects that are further away from her.

she rolled over from back to front at exactly 3 months. She started sleeping through the night at just under 2 months, she first cooed at 7 weeks and first smiled at 5 weeks. She used to be in front with development now I feel like she’s fallen behind.

also, apparently they are meant to be babbling? My baby just makes a bunch of noises. Like loud screeches sometimes and “ahh”, and “ummgay” whatever that means. I’ve noticed she’s started to pronounce “b” when cooing, or at least attempt to.

but that’s it. I feel like I’m hindering her development.

Where are you getting the information about milestones? It all sounds very similar to my 5 month old.

Honestly, she sounds fine. Delete the app/throw the book away that's giving you these narrow ideas of child development. If you've any concerns get in touch with your HV.

My baby is 4.5 months. I don't think she recognises her name, she just looks at you if you call her anything at the right volume/tone.
She can laugh and has done so a few times but nothing consistent. She also just shouts and screeches with no particular babbling noises!
She can't roll at all because all she ever does is scream during tummy time.
She smiled at 1 month and slept 8-10 hours at night from 10 weeks onwards.
I'm not concerned about her and if she could start rolling towards toys in 2 weeks time would be delighted! There's nothing that sounds concerning based on what you've said.

She founds fine and normal. I don't think mine was babbling that early, and I'm sure he has only just started to recognise his name at 8 months. Mine is perfectly healthy and happy (apart from the constant colds and teething, God help us). They go at their own pace really.

At 5 months some babies are walking and talking while others are still basically newborns. Both fit in the normal bracket. There is so much variability that can be considered ok.

If you are concerned go talk to your doctor

DS was a potato baby until about 9 months when suddenly realised that he could attempt to move and reach things.

Put down the books, put away the apps, enjoy your baby.

Where are you getting these milestones? The only ones to use are the ASQ ages and stages questionnaires that the HVs use.
