nappy changing question

hi, first time mum here and my baby boy is 2 weeks old and i've begun noticing when changing his nappy that there's a lot of lint/fibres from his nappy stuck to his privates and bum, has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to prevent it. It's very challenging trying to wipe it all off when changing him and takes 10x longer to change his nappy. any advice will be helpful!!

What nappies do you use? I’ve never noticed this and currently have a young baby (and older kids) and can’t remember ever noticing this.

curlywurly10 · 12/12/2022 09:46

@DipperandMabel i'm using pampers nappies right now, I'm hoping it's not the nappy cause i've stocked up on the pampers nappies🤦‍♀️

I don’t use pampers now but I remember not liking them years ago but can’t remember why! I use mamia from Aldi 79p a pack and they are excellent nappies. Hopefully it’s not the pampers causing it if you have stocked up!

Are you making sure his skin is dry before putting the fresh nappy on? Sometimes if they are wet from wipes the new nappy sticks to them x

EyeCand · 12/12/2022 10:01

Are you using wipes or cotton wool?

curlywurly10 · 12/12/2022 10:09

@DipperandMabel
Hopefully not, stocked up on size 2 as well so it will be a hassle if it is the nappy. i will need to try the lidl ones as i've heard a lot of good things about them

@Treesuphooray
thankyou! i will make sure he's fully dry before i put on the new nappy next time to see if that's the problem, hopefully it's something simple like this

@EyeCand
I'm using wipes on him

I have been mostly using Pampers and never noticed this problem. We have used size 1 and 2 so far.

Lijay · 12/12/2022 13:19

I use pampers and noticed the same thing. I'm just thought it was normal. But now thinking it could be the nappies? (Also like you i bulk buy 🥴)

FoxtrotSkarloey · 12/12/2022 13:22

I'm on my second child in Pampers and I've never had this. What wipes are you using?

Agree with pp though to make sure the bum is completely dry anyway to help prevent nappy rash. Use a nice soft muslin. We have different coloured ones so we know which are face muslins and which are bum muslins!

snowflake29 · 12/12/2022 13:28

I've used pampers with 2 kids, still using them on baby DS and have never noticed this? Only time I've noticed lint is if I put a new pair of joggers on him that haven't been washed or something.

curlywurly10 · 13/12/2022 01:44

@FoxtrotSkarloey
I'm currently using water wipes but i also have some huggies, i may try switching up his wipes to see if it's the problem. i'm making sure his bum is dry now but i'm using nappy cream also so it's inevitability, in a way, wet again.

Nappy cream is probably the suspect. That stuff is very tacky. Try a nappy without the cream just to test it out, even if you leave it on less if DC is prone to nappy rash.

LeafHunter · 13/12/2022 02:51

move to cotton wool and water (isn’t that still recommended for first month?) - even water wipes will dry out the skin a little and more will stick.

StampOnTheGround · 13/12/2022 05:11

We found water wipes perfect and we tried all the brands of nappy in the first month I think 😂 Aldi by far the best for us!
