Does my baby hate me???

I know babies don't have capacity to hate but when my 8 week old gets upset I just can't seem to calm her down. Her dad takes her and she is calm within a minute, I can then take her back and she starts crying. What on earth am I doing wrong? I am the one who feeds her, I change more nappies etc as I am at home ☹️ it's really starting to get me down.

She doesn't hate you. After having a few Mummy's babies (one who wouldn't settle with DH at all, the first, who I think picked up on him being anxious handling her), I had one that was a Daddy's baby and seemed to want to go to him more than the others ever did. I'm not sure if it's because I was quite sick after that birth so he had to look after her the first few days, or because they have being non-NT in common and she related to that more. It changed later and she is much more a Mummy's girl now. Try not to take it personally, it's not. Babies don't have the capacity to think like that.

Are you BFing OP? Sometimes the smell of milk just makes them want to feed.

Your baby isn't angry, when she cries she's just saying 'take action! I need something', in the only way she knows how.

She'll recognise your scent and the way you hold her, and she'll know you are the person who does things for her, and so she'll be more demanding with you. But it definitely, definitely doesn't mean she hates you.
