My little boys 3 he's been unwell for a few days now I took him to the doctor the night before last and he basically said keep an eye on him he should feel better in a week or so with calpol often. I've been monitoring him today and all the poor baby wants to do is sleep he had 12 hours last night and hasn't managed he stay awake for longer than 30 minutes a time today, he's drinking not eating, has an awful cough and a temperature is this concerning or expected behaviour?

It's so hard at the moment to make a clear decision about an unwell child. Previously, we would have just expected a few days poorly and unless they became floppy or developed a rash, we let it run its course, but the recent strepA spate is a worry.
We have a little one in the family who's unwell today too and it's upsetting that NHS111 isn't working at the moment.
Trust your instincts, and if you feel the little one is getting worse, then there's always A&E.
Hope it doesn't come to that. xxx

Good advice above.
