Conjunctivitis treatment allergic eye drops

My DS has conjunctivitis but is allergic to the eye drops & cream. We aren't sure if it's the anti biotic or preservatives in the drops he's allergic to , so any option the GP can give him is a risk and I don't fancy a trip to A&E at the moment. His eyes only seem really bad in the morning so far. Does anyone have any tips other than cool boiled water ?

I am allergic to chloramphenicol so they usually prescribe a different one (floroquinolone I think!).

I'm not in the UK. I have a similar problem. I am allergic to the preservatives and sometimes the active ingredient. I have found antibiotic minims to work well. They are not preserved and are sort of plastic capsules you break open to use and then discard. I used to keep them opened in the fridge for the day. You can usually reseal with the cap bit you break off. They are not that easy to get as they are a bit of a speciality product.
