Newly toilet trained toddler withholding poo

As the title really! Looking for advice on how to help him

Decided about 10 days ago he was ready to try pants and has been doing really well, he had a few poo accidents the first couple of days, then a proper poo in the toilet, he was very proud, even rang granny to tell her!

The noticeable withholding started today, today is day 3 I think of no poo but previous 2 days he's just not seemed to need a poo (he's had a cold, isn't eating loads). Today he needs to go but won't, he won't try whereas previously he was happy to, and we've had an accident in pants.

He had a tiny nug in the loo, but he cut it off. It's normal poo, not loose like overflow from constipation or hard, so I don't think he is constipated, but I'm going to pick up a couple of the prune pouches he used to love just in case.

I had this with youngest dd, I just put the nappy on at poo time, did this around 16 days then something switched and she started pooing on the toilet.
It's been a few months now and she's still so proud when she does a poo on the toilet.
