Hey everyone,

I’ve just got back from my check and wanted to ask fellow mums - my baby’s head circumference is in the 75th percentile, is that good? Seems quite high to me considering her weight is in the 9th. Anyone else had this or something similar? (I know I’m crazy lol)

Both my girls had heads on 98th even tho they were smaller for height and weight. It's not good or bad, just means on the bigger side of average

@cavily1806 thanks hun x

Probably not typical but still normal and neither good or bad, just down to genetics.

My DD’s head circumference is also 75th percentile and weight only 9th percentile. Her length is 90th percentile so a long and thin baby. No concerns from the HV or GP as long as they are growing roughly on their percentile line.

My son's head was more than two centile lines from his weight. GP didn't seem to concerned!

Demdemz · 05/12/2022 17:40

@ToddleToddleToddle hey love, what percentile was your little ones head if u don’t mind me asking

@Demdemz don't remember exactly - maybe 98th? His weight was below the 50th, so the HV told me to flag with the GP, who literally looked at him and said he seemed proportionate.

He's almost 1 1/2 now, no developmental concerns

Beachsidesunset · 05/12/2022 18:09

The paper tape measure is notoriously inaccurate. I had to tell the GP it was over my baby's eye during his check!

@ToddleToddleToddle thats really good news! Thank you :)

@Beachsidesunset thank you, yes my baby seemed to be grabbing at it 😃

DS was on the 9th percentile for weight when he was born but his head was on the 98th. He just has a massive head. He's now 3 and I bought him a summer hat that was for age 8-10. It weirdly doesn't look out of proportion though.

Demdemz · 05/12/2022 18:48

@mynameiscalypso thanks my love x

My son's head is on the 95th centile. It just means we have to buy bigger hats (age 7-10 when he was 3).

My dad is the same, can't wear the hats that come in Christmas crackers because they're too small.

Demdemz · 05/12/2022 19:35

@ChuggingtonMum thank you love. This is reassuring x
