Babyzen yoyo2 or alternative travel stroller?

Looking to get a travel stroller since our Uppababy Cruz Pram is way too big for taking on planes. Considering the Babyzen yoyo2 as it seems to be the only one guaranteed to fit as hand luggage on all/most flights (important as we will do a multi-stop flight soon and want to use it while in transit). Other than the cost a few negative reviews are putting me off (front wheels being wobbly, straps too loose etc). Any recent experiences? Would you recommend it as a travel stroller? Are there any other options that fold down as small?

Baby will be 7 months at first use but would want it to last until a stroller is no longer necessary.

The Cybex Libelle folds down even smaller than the Yo-yo!

We have a yoyo and love it as we travel a lot, my daughter is now 2 and uses it daily. I would highly recommend it but also look at the leclerc magicfold as that fully reclines which the yoyo doesn't when it's in stroller rather than bassinet mode.

I brought a Bugaboo Butterfly rather than the yo-yo and highly recommend. It's cheaper with a much better basket and a proper raincover. Straps are great and comfortable (according to my wriggly toddler).

Only negative is that the carry strap is not at all comfortable but there is other carry options, like the footrest.

The YoYo is great, mine has been in daily use for 5.5 years at this point- DD was turfed out at 3.5 so we could turn it over for her newborn brother. My only complaint is that the buggy board requires an awkward stance! The straps are fine. The wheels don’t wobble on pavements. It’s a tough push on grass but that’s not what it’s designed for.

Just to be aware if it’s a trip specific purchase though - it doesn’t fit on every plane. On very small ones (like with a 2x2 economy configuration) it has to go in the hold- this has happened to me with a Swiss air flight from Heathrow to Geneva and a US internal from Chicago to Albany with American.

i got the ergo baby metro and it was cheaper and similar weight/ folded size and also lies flat which i wanted for naps on the go.

We've just bought the ergobaby metro too. Only done one test drive with it, but so far so fab! We chose it because it was suitable from birth and the correct size to take on holiday as cabin baggage. Way cheaper than the yo-yo too!

Following this. The babyzen yoyo is v popular round us (SW London). We have an Uppababy Vista v2 so i am very tempted by the Uppababy Minu v2 as all my accessories for the Vista will fit on it but it is £££!

We have a well-used YoYo. The straps are good and easy to adjust - I can’t imagine how they’d be too loose as they go pretty tight.

However it’s absolutely rubbish on any terrain other than flat tarmac. Cobbles etc just aren’t possible. I’m assuming that’s similar with all city-type travel buggies but if I had my time again I’d get a cheaper option.

Also I’ve always had to check mine into the hold.

Bugaboo butterfly, I love mine and so easy to fold. X

We bought one 6 years ago with first DC and it's been brilliant. There were no other small/quick/compact options at the time and it's served us very well.

Like the PP said, it's a very much for 'city' use and I've used mine on cobblestones with no issues. But grass/off road terrain is not what it's designed for

I'd definitely be exploring the other options mentioned if I was buying a new one now though.

I have a minu and love it - it’s not like a travel pushchair, it’s replaced our massive travel system completely

I have a minu too and it’s brilliant. However it’s not small enough for it to go on a plane and we have to gate check it. So far it has survived the gate checks (touch wood)

Our mini has been fine on planes in the overhead, not sure what the technical measurements are supposed to be but they’ve always just let us carry it on.

I have a baby jogger city tour II which is great on all terrain apart from if it's really muddy as the wheels get clogged.

As above, Ergobaby Metro - basically the same as the Yoyo but better and cheaper

(specifically in response to the above post, it has a larger rear wheel than the Yoyo and I think more solid wheels in general, so while it's definitely not all an all terrain buggy, we can do cobbles, reasonably smooth dirt tracks, grass with no issues)

Depending where you are, you can get a second hand one for quite cheap. If you are in the south of England there are lots on marketplace for around £200. Especially as you won't need the newborn pack or bassinet.

I'm in Scotland and there were none! Got one when we visited relatives and used it every day for about 3 months with the newborn pack.

The main issue is that the toddler seat only front faces - no parent facing option. I had to stop using it for a few months because my son hated lying flat but was too small for the front facing seat. It is also really rubbish on cobbles - I had to pick it up and carry it a few times.

We have used the yo-yo for travel, since Ds was similar age and he’s now 2.5. It lies flat enough for him to nap well.

The advantage definitely is it’s build and size. Friends recently flew to us and have ergo baby metro. It was really rattling on pavements compared to our yo-yo which is silent. And they weren’t allowed to take onboard as it was bigger than hand luggage but the people travelling behind had yo-yo and could take it on fine

To add- both of mine slept/sleep well in the YoYo. It’s not completely lie flat but it’s definitely flat enough. And it’s fine on cobblestones, basically anything hard and you’re good.
Oh and I don’t know if you’re a skier or live somewhere snowy but you can get skis for the YoYo now too!

The yo-yo back folding down, is very handy in London taxis I found on last trip. Also for making it compact highchair in tiny cafes. Child can stay sitting in it with back folded down

I like the yoyo but personally I dont like it for anything other than essential travel where I need to fold a pram regularly - I find it difficult to push (perhaps as I am taller) its hard to push over rougher terrain, hate the small basket, not that stable on a bus so have to hold on to it constantly. For every day I love my Oyster 3 - glides like a dream and very sturdy but shit for solo travel.
