Hard lump that comes and goes whilst breast feeding!

Hi all. So I noticed in the middle of the night last week when I hadn’t fed my baby for some hours, my boobs were full and a small hard lump. I asummed blocked duct and got baby to feed of it and pumped and I thought it went away. It has however not and will come back when boobs are full then disappear when babies fed. I went to the doctors to get this checked and he had a feel and said it had nothing to do with feeding and referred me to breast cancer clinic to check! I’m obviously now freaking out. I’m glad for the check but I’m wondering if this has happened to anyone else? Lump is still there when boob are full but always goes away once babies fed. It is not painful and almost like a tiny small hard lump. It just seems such a coincidence but the doctor was really morbid about it all. Also I didn’t think sinister lumps would disappear but could be wrong.

I would have assumed the same as you, but best to follow the doctor's advice I suppose.

Hi OP. I had the same with my youngest and was sent to the breast cancer clinic for it to be checked out, scariest appointment I've ever had but it was all fine in the end. The doctor at the clinic from the ultrasound scans they did explained that for me it was a deep duct that had got blocked and that it would go away eventually and to keep feeding like normal off that side.

Your GP has done the right thing to ere on the side of caution and get it checked but have everything crossed that it turns out to be breast feeding related.

Thanks for replying! Yes glad to get checked over but hoping the nature of it coming and going is a good sign! Doctor was just really uncomforting so think that has added stress for me.

Your GP did the right thing but could have been more reassuring about it, as 9/10 lumps are nothing sinister.
My lump was dismissed twice as a blocked duct when it was actually cancer. I'm absolutely fine now, but it took a lot longer to get referred than it should have done.
Good luck and hope your mind is at rest soon!
