When did your child drop their nap?

DS is two in a couple of weeks, and I’m finding nap (or lack thereof!) incredibly stressful and would appreciate advice.

He used to sleep 12-2 without any problems. Even before his nighttime sleep improved he was a great little napper. Over the course of the last few weeks though he has just refused.

I would normally work on the assumption he doesn’t need it but I really think he does. He will sleep in the car (sometimes - not always) and most strangely he sleeps at nursery (3 days a week) without a problem.

I’m keen to sort it as he’s then so grumpy and overtired it’s hard to do anything with him and his eating is poor too. He won’t do quiet time in his cot - just goes mental! Help!

My son was just over 3 when he stopped napping consistently. Sometimes he would skip a day or two but then on a busy day needed one.

my daughter is 2 years 8 months and still napping regularly. I do cap her nap though at 1.5 hours and wake her from her nap at the same time every day. You might try shortening it and moving it up earlier in the day so that the nap doesn’t interfere with bedtime. My daughter wakes at 2:30 pm then goes to bed by 8.

It’s likely a regression - good luck!

My first slept 8pm to 8-9am. She stopped nap at about 18 months. Sometimes wld have wee nap in short car journey. She never did long naps when she got closer to one usually maybe an hour max. She always slept gd overnight though so probably didn't need it.

My second stopped napping about 2ish. Once she got to 2 1/2 if she napped we couldn't get her down at bedtime. So we stopped her nap. She was still having a nap at nursery though and that meant we couldn't get her to bed until 9.30/10pm most night. Awake about 8am. Even without nap its difficult to get her to sleep before 9pm 🙄 she's just turned 3 now.
