he'll be sitting soon...just when you stop watching for it. i've worried when DS2 showed no signs of sitting alone and mentioned it to a friend. I saw her a week later and DS2 was sitting up looking very pleased with himself. they do things quickly once the notion takes them.

ju=st ive got a development check up due with the hv for dd in a few days, thats what made me wonder

will the hv expect dd to be able to sit?

DS didn't till he was about 9 months, and when he was 7 months the health visitor started saying he was all floppy - he wasn't but he had fallen asleep in his buggy on the way to the clinic and ony just woken up when she saw him. So I got referred for an appointment, got the letter a month or solater by which time DS was sitting up and crawling, and spoke to v nice paediatriciaon on the phone who said if I was happy there was no need to keep the appointment but to call them if I had any concerns.
If you are worried, ask the HVs, if not, don't let it get to you.

Is he a big baby?
My first was big and she didn't sit by herself until 10 months. She could sit whilst supported (cushions) at 9 months.

ds was 10 months which i thought was late but friend's baby is 13 months and only just started sitting without support.
