7 year old - toys in living room?

Does your 7 year old DS keep any toys in the living room? Which toys are they into at this age? They drift in and out of Lego.

They like to be in the living room near us. The living room is on the same floor as their bedroom (our house has a quirky layout and the 2 boys close in age share a room) but there seems to be stuff everywhere in the living room that they hardly touch.

I don't care what mess they make as long as they tidy away and I enjoy them playing near us. Keep 2 toy boxes in the living room and that's it? There's underbed storage in their bedroom but that's all. They've never been great at going to get toys out of a box/drawer themselves so I feel like it should be 'accessible' which means I keep it all out at once😅but roughly in the right sets/groups.

They are more into 'active' play rather than fiddling about with stuff.

My DS is 9 and has 2 boxes in the lounge of stuff he plays with the most, his cars, various balls, colours and paper, and nerf guns he plays with his dad mainly! He also has a few board games and books under the coffee table. It does get annoying sometimes as I’d like a neat and tidy lounge and I have been thinking about relocating it all to his bedroom but I quite like that he still wants to play with his stuff in the lounge with us occasionally, I don’t want him to think I’m banishing him to his room.

Me too. I love that they want to play near us as in years to come they'll want more of their own time in their room and the lounge can be tidier then lol. For now I love the fun and noise.

It's a storage issue but I'll do one large box each in the living room and then they have some in their bedroom too. We have some books and board games in the living room too.
