SCBU on oxygen

my daughter was born at 41 weeks, everything was looking fine for discharge when her sats were found to be low.
she’s been in SCBU for a week now, had a course of antibiotics as white blood cells were high and they thought it might be an infection, but they don’t really know.

now they are slowly weaning her off oxygen. She seems to vary between needing 0.05 and 0.03 at the moment, it goes up and down.

there’s no point to this post other than I’m feeling sorry for myself and was wondering if anyone else had been through this and how long it took to come home. I am here too as breastfeeding on demand and missing my other two kids like crazy, bored, tired, anxious and dying to be out of here.

I feel for you! DC2 went into PICU at 17 days old with bronchiolitis, so I can totally understand your boredom, anxiety, tiredness and frustration. I hope the rest of the family are visiting when they can and that you're out soon!

Oh, poor you and baby! My first ended up in NICU then SCBU not long after birth, we'd had about 10hrs together before baby was whisked away with collapsed lung. We were told to expect to be in for at least 2weeks but baby turned it round super quickly and we were home after 1 week. Also BF on demand! I hope you have someone who can drop in fresh fruit or foods for you! It was peak lockdown for us unfortunately.

Fingers crossed you're home soon
