10 year olds periods dark brownish blood

My 10 year old (almost 11) started her periods 3 months ago.

They still aren't that typical bright red period blood colour.

Still a dark brown colour. I just expected them to look a bit more normal by her 3rd cycle.
They also aren't very heavy. Which is good for her obviously. But Im wondering if that's normal too?

Does anyone else have any experience with this?

I will call GP if need be, but thought I'd see if anyone else had a similar experience with their pre teens before I sit in an hour long GP phone queue 🙄

Mine were like that for at least 3 months (I was 13). Unfortunately I thought that that was what periods were like! I then got a nasty surprise when they started properly!

I'm sure I remember mine being the same at first.
Maybe ring the GP for advise over the phone.

I think that's quite normal. It just means it's older blood not fresh. I guess the first womb lining(s) probably hang around for a while and aren't shed all in one go?

I got lots of rusty spotting before I started properly.
