Worried mummy - baby congested for 8 weeks

Hello,

I am after some advise please if any other Mummy’s have experienced this.

My little man is currently 4 months and has had a congested nose for 8 weeks!!
8 weeks ago myself and my husband both caught covid & our little man had 1 night of a high temperature & a blocked nose. We rang 111 who said it was highly likely he had caught covid too.
He was absolutely fine the next day & has been since, however the blocked nose has never left!! We are currently 8 weeks later and I am having to unblock his nose every single morning, usually on an evening & sometimes even 3 times a day with saline spray and a nasal aspirator!
We have been to our GP twice in which both times were told he’s completely healthy and to just ‘ride it out’ - advised to keep using nasal spray.

I'm worrying so much because surely 8 weeks of a blocked nose isn’t normal, and having to unblock it with saline spray etc daily isn’t healthy for him too?

i have all sorts going through my mind…
Could it be the covid or could it be a timing coincidence and it’s an allergy to something at home e.g washing powder, baby wash?

Has anyone experienced this please - Thank you so much x

My daughter (now 13 weeks) has been congested since birth, worst at night when trying to lie her in cot (she sounds like she can't breathe on some nights). GP told me at her 6-8 week check when she was 10 weeks old that babies can be congested for significant amount of time and more so if they are early or csection.

I read some things about saline solution not recommended for long term use as it can irritate the lining of the nasal passages and cause more congestion but I can get her bogies out with just a Freda aspirator thing.

Their nasal passages aren't developed until like 6-12 months and some have smaller ones that are more easily congested. I hope it gets better for you soon!

That's just what I was told and read up on too. It's because they don't pass through the birthing canal which pushes all that mucus out of their lungs so it takes ages for it to all be brought up naturally.

OP I know it’s been a few months but hoping you’re still around, is your little one any better?

Having the same issue with my almost 8 week old in that pretty much since birth (maybe a couple weeks after) he seems pretty congested and snotty. No other symptoms of a cold at all, no spit up at all, putting on weight like a trooper etc.
