Weaning constipation

Anyone elses little one suffered from constipation when they started weaning? We are day 8 into weaning and for the past day or so she is straining so much, arching her back and crying and then passing really thick, paste like poo

Yes. My son is now 10 months and he still has trouble with it. I make prune puree for him fairly often. Do toy have a jumperoo? We discovered that this really helps! When we know he's wanting to go, we pop him in there, he has a good bounce and then in a few minutes he strains and poops. The bouncing really seems to get things moving.
