Silent Reflux? Poor appetite and getting nowhere with GP

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here 🙂 I'm a very stressed out first time mum to my 7month old boy. I really feel at a loss as to what to do, I feel like the GP isn't taking my concerns seriously and am just looking for other people's similar experiences for a bit of hope and guidance.

Here goes...

He had feeding issues from about 2 weeks old, seemed to be constipation so went through the usual changing milk etc.
At about 10 weeks old the GP finally agreed a trial of milk for CMPA and then we went through a couple (pepti 1. Nutramigen) settled on Neocate.

This seemed to solve tummy issues and cleared up his Eczema 😀 but he then started having symptoms of what seems to be silent reflux which started at about 14 weeks old.

Also had Colic from about 2 weeks old until 4 months.

GP has prescribed gaviscon and omeprazole neither of which have helped. The omeprazole seems to suppress his appetite even more and gaviscon constipation 🙁.

He's in the 9th percentile for weight (born at the 50th but dropped) and has been in 9th for a while now.

HV team don't measure length but my rough measuring puts him about 50th for height.

We started weaning at 6m he barely eats anything if anything (offered twice a day). GP put off doing much as weaning would help (it hasn't).

Each feed he'll take anything from 0 to 7oz but we can't get him above 20oz a day. He's noticeably hungry and unsettled through most of the day.

There's now definitely some level of feeding aversion (he often cries just looking at a bottle).

He's also very active has been army crawling for about a month now and is everywhere, but does sleep a lot (2x 2 hour naps and 12 hours at night).

I really feel he should be seen by a paediatrician or alike but GP refuses to refer as is a 9m wait 😥.

I'm just at a loss, researching constantly and getting nowhere.

We've tried thickener, smaller feeds, baby rice, obvs do the sitting up for 30 mins after a feed and still burp him even though he doesn't seem to need this.

Can anyone offer some advice, are there tests that could be run to actually see whats wrong with him?
Has anyone been through similar and managed to solve it?

So sorry its such a long post, I just didn't want to miss anything out. Thank you for reading 😊.

You should have been referred to a paediatric dietitian. With such a significant difference in centile I would be asking for a referral to both a paediatrician and a paediatric dietitian.
