Leap 4 - have I missed it?

According to wonder weeks, my little one has 14 days left of the “fussy phase” of leap 4. The app says it’s the hardest leap but I don’t know if she’s missed the fussy phase or I’m just more hardened than I was during the last one because it hasn’t seemed that bad (touch wood).

has anyone else found this? She’s more difficult to get to sleep in the evenings, it’s taking over an hour currently but once she’s asleep she’s generally pretty good, will only wake either once for a feed (ebf) or not wake until 6am.

shes 4 months in a couple of days - is it all going to change then??

I found the leap when she was 8-10 weeks so hard, she was miserable all the time and cried a lot so I was expecting the worst and it hasn’t been like that…. Is she late going through it or is she just coping better?

sorry this is a complete ramble and I know apps are just a guideline but what I’m asking really is has she missed this or am I on the verge of the sleep regression in the next few weeks despite the app saying she will be coming out of the fussy phase then?

thanks for reading my absolute ramble of a post 😂

I thought it had been decided that leaps weren't real? 🤔 I'm sure I read that somewhere.

Leaps/Wonder Weeks is horoscopes for babies. Sometimes they fit your baby, which feels confirmatory, other/most times they don’t. Even the writers of Wonder Weeks say each leap time can vary about 3-4 weeks each side, which is just massive in context. I’d ignore the apps and just focus on your baby and go with the flow, they’ll change and often be more unsettled when they’re learning new things or growing quickly

Sorry OP, it's probably because it's not a real thing....

Parents I know who used it drove themselves mad counting down until 'the end' of whatever phase and then stressing out when it didn't end 'on time'

Just go with the flow!

The student of the very guy who camr up with the "wonder weeks" thing has proven it's untrue. Babies don't follow schedules like that I'm afraid!

Sunflowergrow · 27/11/2022 13:33

Thank you, that makes sense. I guess it’s nice to feel like there’s some structure but in reality I know every baby is different and I would probably say to my friends to ignore it… yet here I am!

I needed reminding so I appreciate the responses!

@Sunflowergrow thats exactly it. Amidst the madness, and a baby who was doing one thing happily and has suddenly changed for no apparent reason, it’s so natural to want to make sense of it. We’re all just trying our best with this baby stuff! 🙂

It’s a load of nonsense - followed some insta ma’s that had babies same age as mine and they were obsessed with their geets conforming to every single ‘leap’ on time. They all develop and grow differently - and certainly don’t all have every sleep regression they tell you to expect - if your child does not meet every ‘leap’ don’t think there is something wrong with them!

Madeintowerhamlets · 27/11/2022 17:58

My whole NCT group was completely obsessed with this- particularly leap 4! I uninstalled the app as I found it completely inaccurate & unhelpful so these replies make sense!

I’m in a similar boat. DS is 4 months and is definitely more particular about his naps than he ever used to be but so far nights have been generally ok.

I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop because DD went through the 4 month sleep regression and basically didn’t leave it until she was about 18 months! Part of me is hoping that DS is a miracle baby who just sleeps?!
