18 month old refusing to eat after V&D illness!

My 18 month old son is on the recovery side of a particularly nasty D&V virus. It started Monday/Tuesday with loose nappies but he was still acting/eating/drinking fine, but turned into full blown watery poop and vomiting on Wednesday, and whilst the bulk of all of it over, he’s still having gaggy moments, occasional vomits and thicker korma yellow poop a couple of times a day.

I spoke with OOH yesterday as it’s just rumbled on and an OOH GP rang me back, pretty much said nothing sounds concerning and to keep him hydrated.

The other sickness bugs have been over in generally 48 hours, and whilst his appetite hasn’t been huge, he’s at least ate small bits. But right now, the only thing he’ll eat is quavers. He isn’t even putting anything else in his mouth! I’ve tried all his favourites, as well as the recommended bland foods. He turns away from everything with a ‘No!’

He’s drinking plenty so I’m not worried about dehydration, but I am worried about the lack of food. It’s been almost 4 full days of him refusing food. He still breastfeeds once a day so he’s been taking small amounts of that, but nowhere near enough to sustain him.

Does anyone have any tips to get him back to eating?!?

I would give dry foods such as biscuits, toast, crackers anything dry always helps l find with getting a little bit of appetite back.

I would let him carry on with the Quavers . My daughter had a virus and slowly got her appetite back. It will just take a bit of time.
