How do you soothe your baby when upset?

as in the title!! Baby is nearly 5 months old. Combi fed as for a multitude of reasons I can’t exclusively breastfeed and my supply has dropped again to maybe one feed now and I feel like i am getting my period so I think the end is nigh for stopping unfortunately.

What I am most afraid of is those times when baby just won’t settle and is hysterical/roaring crying I just put her on the boob and she settles straight away. I am very upset that I might not be able to settle or soothe her properly. baby refuses a dummy too no matter what I try.

we were planning to go on holiday in January too and now I’m afraid to go with the flight in case she’s inconsolable.

please any tips or advice would be really appreciated.

Does movement help?
mine settles when I bounce him gently upright on my shoulder.
Try not to worry, you will both be okay x

Getting your period doesn't have to be the end of breastfeeding. I got mine at 3 months pp and fed for 15 months! Breastfeeding is a huge advantage for plane journeys. You can work up to a few more feeds with perseverance, it is possible to build up supply again.
