9 year old pains

So my 9 year old recently has complained of leg pains (behind the knee typically) of an evening after school, to the point he wants to lay down in bed I give him a hot water bottle and some calpol.
i thought growing pains but I’m not aware they can just be in one leg says the nhs website but I know sometimes that’s not always correct. He did mention it hurting again this morning before school, so I gave calpol and off he went. Any ideas or experience with this? Thankyou x

Are they hot or swollen? Is your child doing lots of hopping about (or any activity which could stress it?
Perhaps ask your gp to refer to the children's physios? Hope they are feeling better soon.

Not hot or swollen, he does of course run around at school all week, swimming on a Saturday as usual. Other than that, I’m not sure what could cause it.
i will call the GP. Thankyou

I hope you manage to get to the bottom of it. Don't let the GP brush you off with 'growing pains' without looking at it properly.
My 8yo currently has an inflamed achilles tendon, NHS website says common for children between 8-14yrs, GP said its not common and is sending us to physio. It's hard when your child is in pain. Good luck!
