Nappy rash creams!

How many people clicked on this post to recommend yellow metanium out of interest? 😂

It was a miracle cream for DD1 but just doesn't work for DD2. She had thrush a few months ago and even clotrimazole and timodene made no difference. I'm giving her as much nappy free time as I can, bearing in mind it's v cold now and we can't have the heating on 24/7 but she's so sore 😭 Has anyone had a child who doesn't respond to the normal stuff who has a suggestion? Massive thanks in advance 😊

Has the thrush gone? I would see the GP again. Are you using just water to clean? Have you tried using a different nappy brand?

I did click on this to recommend metanium, sorry it didn't work for your DD. DS had awful nappy rash and the other think we have done is started wiping his bum only with cotton wool dipped in coconut oil. It cleans it really nicely and is so much more gentle than wipes or even cotton wool in water. Coconut oil is also a natural antiseptic. It had kept the nappy rash away and made nappy changes a lot more pleasant for him!

I always use the Burts Bees diaper ointment - absolutely swear by it. As an added bonus it won't dye everything you own yellow 😀

My friend swears by Aquaphor - it's not cheap but apparently a game changer! Also the Weleda gets good recommendations on a mum group WhatsApp!

I found drapoline worked quite well on dd when metanium wasn't working. Cleared up a bad rash in about 3 days

Good old sudocreme had never failed for my two.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 25/11/2022 19:46

Coconut oil is great

Metanium was a wonder cream for DC1 and 2, but it does bugger all for DC3. Mustela barrier cream actually seems to sort out his nappy rash, even though it's just a barrier one!

Weleda Baby Products are amazing!! you wouldnt use anything else for my daughter!

lovetosup · 25/11/2022 20:16

Try Bepanthen it's great stuff

mswales · 25/11/2022 20:32

Use a mild steroid cream - hydrocortisone or eumovate. That's what clears persistent nappy rash.

dammiejodger · 25/11/2022 20:33

Tropic Little Emu cream. I'm not a rep for them, my neighbour is. But my DD struggled with thrush. Tried this and the difference overnight was incredible.

Sudocreme the one in the grey pot.

I hope you’ve already found something that works, but if not then I can’t recommend Ilex highly enough. We tried so many things, including metanium, but nothing else helped to clear up the sore open skin, which was constantly being irritated by frequent pooing. I think prescription creams may have cleared suspected thrush, but they didn’t heal the skin. I bought some small tubes of Ilex and started applying it on a Friday, and by the Monday my baby’s skin was healed.

Burts bees nappy ointment - really thick and sticky but very good

Friends mum is a wound care specialist and recommended medihoney, works amazingly!
