Lack of sleep 2 month old

Hi All

I am looking for some advice/tips. We have a 8week old baby girl. She just doesn't sleep and when she does it in just 20 minutes cat naps. This lack of sleep then results in overtired meltdowns and torturous evening for the entire household (8 year old relationship with her is impacted). We are concerned about the impact on her development of her lack of sleep.

From a diet point of view she has been put on Aptamil Pepti by doctors for CMPA. She went on this on 11th and for the following week she would sleep during the day for spells but would only go to sleep at 1am when she couldn't fight it any longer. Since Monday this week it seems to be going back over.

The doctor advised us to come off Gaviscon due to the constipation so her reflux can be bad at times and she sounds rather gurgly. She was having Invacol then try Dentinox now but not sure of their success.

She will after a long period fall asleep on you but can't make a sound or move so not ideal. If we transition to her next to me crib or her cot she is awake instantly.

It is becoming so difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel and we are clinging to the 3 month window.

Any advice would be welcome of both of us are feeling like parenting failures at the moment.

@Sorry to hear you are going through this. We are on aptamil pepti 1 and have to use carabel milk thickener as it's way too thin for reflux - that's helped ours massively x

@chocsaucestrawb thanks for the response.

We have used Aptamil 1st, Hipp Organic, Sma LF then moved to Pepti. We have both got to the point that we haven't got a clue what works and doesn't.

We bought some Carobel but then she was unsettled so we didn't know what to do for the better. So just have followed the docs direction of just Pepti.

I'm going to get some Optibac drops as some say that may relax her.

My wife is at her wits end it's so hard to watch both her and baby struggling (I know it's Mumsnet but the advice is always great so this Dad wants to be involved 😀)

@Csimpson82 my partner is the same - supports me so much. Our bubs is 18 weeks and we've also gone through the mill.

It's best to try things for a while so you can see what's helping or not

Only thing about pepti is that it's soo thin and really not good for reflux babies. X
