Baby gym mat, when does baby grow out of it?

What age did your LO stopped using their baby gym? Mine is 5.5 months and we have the foldable/travel kind, and when LO pulls on toys top folds (as the top bit is held to mat with velcro).
So would buy a normal baby gym, but don't want to spend money if it's only going to be used for a short time. Thank you.

For mine, by the time they were crawling. They crawled earlier than most children. They didn’t want to be still.

Mine were in a sitting up doughnut thing at about 5.5 months. They were happier upright.

When he started crawling, but we had the baby doughnut as well which was brilliant until he figured out how to launch himself out (around 9 months). I got it on Marketplace, cost £5.

Once your baby has the strength to crawl and start to pull up, baby gyms and other 'static' toys are pointless. I'd say at 5.5 months there's no point buying another. Maybe ask friends with older children if they have one in the loft you can borrow? Or a jumperoo type thing?

I wouldn’t buy another personally, don’t think he’d get more than a few weeks use out of another one.

I think they normally grow out of them by 3-4 months and you can get one for £5 on FB marketplace normally

Thanks for your answers, I'll buy the donut thing. Any recommendations?

Mine lost interest once she could sit up and roll. I'd say it's not worth buying another at this stage.

This is the one we had, and all our friends. There are usually lots on eBay in really good condition too.

My little one is also 5.5 months, he has started rolling over and doesn’t seem interested in the play gym we had. I bought some of those floor tiles and he now has lots of room to roll around and seems much happier playing there!

😊

I’m in a similar situation to the OP. Was wondering about something like the Bright Starts 5 in 1 (on sale now) which has options to convert to a ball pit etc. Do you think we would get enough use out of this? Baby is currently 4.5 months.
