HI
I just had to share this with you all.

I am so proud of my DD who is 8, she had been doing Taekwondo for two years but because of a family move she had to give it up and she started kickboxing (2months ago), she has just been for selection to represent Great Britain in the World Kickboxing championships. She has made it through to the final round. Her coach thinks she should get through. It will be great if she does get through, but I am just so proud of her getting this far.

The final round is being held over this weekend so fingers crossed...............................

HI, The GB coach had a look at her adn wants to see her again in February as she needs to work on her aggression and when someone hits her at the moment sometimes she is crying so we need to toughen her up a little bit more. He did say she has improved dramtically over the weekend with the intensve training she has done. Also as she is only 8 she would be one of the youngest in the squad, and when they fight int he championships they fight according to height and weight within the age catogaries and as hse is tall would end up fighting the 10 year olds, which gives her a disadvantage as a 10year olds motor skills are better and there brains can work faster in situations, rtthan an 8 year olds.. She has been provisionally accepted into the squad though so providing she works on her week areas she is in Grin Grin Grin So we just have to wait till feb now. She will be doing the training though which will be good for her whatever the outcome. I had to pull her out today though as she wanted to train all day again but I said no as she had done alot over the weekend and I felt she just needed to chill out this afternoon (after a 4 and 1/2 hr training session this morning, she trained for 3hrs thusday night, 2hrs on friday night, and 3hrs on saturday!!!) ready for school etc tommorrow.

I really can't express how proud I am off her. Grin grin] Grin
I have just read back and it really sounds like I am a pushy mother with all that training, but I just want to clarify that I let her do as much as she wants to, and if I feel she is overdoing it I do put my foot down and tell her no , and I would never make her do anything she didn't want to do.
HTMS.
