Soft part on 3 week old’s head - normal?

My 3 week old has a soft ridge on his head when I run my fingers over it. His skull has a soft indent if you get what I mean? He feeds properly, plenty of wet and dirty nappies, he seems completely fine. Is this normal?

It’s at the top of his head, feels like a ‘gap’ in his skull if that makes sense? Not a gap but a small spot of his skull is softer

Yes.
Don't poke it. Babies are born without their skulls being fused or they would be even harder to squeeze out!

It’s known as his soft spot, or fontanelle. The bones of the skull will gradually fill in and knit together.

Op, I'm not a parent and I remember this freaking me out when I held new babies - it's totally normal x

Oh! It freaked me out. Thanks guys 😊
