i don't know what i want from this thread.

for context, my 10 month old doesn't walk/crawl, DH and i have tried crawling tricks, but DS is not interested, we've dangled toys and put them further away so he would try reach for them, he will push himself onto his stomach and not move from there, tummy down on the floor.

he was sat on the sofa next to my DS, she got up to go somewhere for a couple of seconds and opened up the sofa into a sofa bed so that even if DS pushes himself forward onto his stomach, he would be nowhere near the edge. (i've already told her off for leaving him alone and not telling me as still don't like him being alone in any situations where he can harm himself)

i walked into the living room from doing laundry and find him in the middle of the living room laying on his back, quite a length from the sofa. he wasn't crying, he was laying on his back, could've hit his head, but no sign of falling?? he doesn't know how to climb off sofas, heck, he doesn't even crawl or move his butt off wherever he's sat, put a toy far enough, he'll reach for it as far as his arms go then give up, but won't budge or shuffle slightly. i was right by the living room and didn't hear a thud or anything of him even falling if he had fell??

am i crazy for wondering what on earth happened and does anyone have any sort of explanation because i'm having a wtf happened moment??

Maybe he rolled

MolliciousIntent · 19/11/2022 15:19

Sure your DS (son? Sister?) didn't put the baby on the floor.

i thought this, but he can roll but very rarely does so, and he would've had to roll at least 3/4 times over to get to the floor and even then, wouldn't he have cried over hitting the floor?? there was no thud, no sound, it was as though he was placed there??

my sister promises me she didn't put my son on the floor, she apologised for leaving i'm on the sofa without warning me she was going somewhere and thought it would be safe to just open up the sofa and leave him in the middle of it

I often used to look away from my son and when i looked back have no idea how we had got himself from A to B in the moment i wasn't looking. Somehow he did though. Babies are secret ninjas. I wouldn't worry!

MolliciousIntent · 19/11/2022 15:25

Off topic, but have you had him checked by the HV?

My son has only just strayed crawling, 10.5 months. About 2 months ago he somehow manged to fall off my bed in a few seconds and not near the edge when I left him. I have no idea how he did it, sometimes they can really amaze/ surprise us.
