So I picked my 18 month old up from nursery today and they told me that they found out today another child had impetigo, she wasn't in today but was yesterday, I saw her on pick up and bless her she looked really poorly and the blisters looked very scabby. I'm assuming she was contagious e

Sorry pressed send too soon
I'm assuming she was contagious earlier in the week, maybe even last week.
Since Tuesday I've noticed a small spot, just like a white head or an ulcer right in the corner of my daughter's mouth but can only notice it if her mouth is open. Its not got any worse or spread. This evening her cheek has been red but she's really badly teething on that side. Could either of these be impetigo or would it have spread a bit more dramatically than this?

She's luckily now not in nursery until Tuesday so that's not an issue about keeping her off, but should I take her to the Dr/pharmacy to double check it?

It will obviously be crap if it is but not much I can do other than treat it as early as possible, I've just got a crazy week next week at work so just wondering if pre emptively I should get a head start this evening in case I'm off next week with her 🥹

It looks much worse than it actually is. I caught it off my kids recently and it doesn’t hurt.
It’s very contagious though so definitely act as soon as you see it, if you do

Cross-posted. Sounds like it might be though the spread is usually faster. It’s not contagious 24 hours after starting treatment so sounds like you have some time

Thank you! Did it spread quite quickly as in like 24 hours? I wouldn't have thought one small spot on Tuesday would have just stayed the same if it is impetigo and honestly didn't think much of it until I found out today that it's been in her room

It doubled each day more or less

Flopsy145 · 17/11/2022 21:21

Thank you! Its not doubled yesterday or today so I'll pop into the pharmacy tomorrow just in case unless it's worse then I'll head straight to the GP. Thanks!
