Going back to pull ups?

My son is 6 but he has been wetting the bed every night. He's been potty trained since 2 and we had him in pull-ups at night until about a year ago. We removed the nighttime pull ups and had long streaks of success, especially over the summer. But lately he's regressed. I can't hack being woken up and changing sheets every night, I work full time and am finding it really difficult. It's been every night for the last two weeks.

I'm looking for advice/experience. I want to put him back in pull ups but am worried it's regressing and not great for him. Would you persevere or give up?

My son is 7 and this happened to us. We tried alarms etc etc and nothing worked. My husband and his brothers all had the same issue and it resolved itself so there is most likely a genetic component. We went back to pullups. We spoke to a paediatrician who said it was normal and as long as DS was OK with it, then it was fine by her to wait another year. My son understands and doesn't feel ashamed or anything, but just accepts that he will probably be dry a little later tha his friends and that's ok. I revisit it every 6 months to see if there is a difference but up until now, he still sleeps very deeply and wets his pull up each night.

I believe that it's developmental (hormonal?) Issue and things like limiting water and waking in the night only protect the bedsheets from getting wet but don't actually solve the problem. For us, we think time and maturity will be the greatest strategies.

That's so helpful thank you, and makes me feel much better about doing it

I could have written this. Mine is only 4, but he really really doesn’t want to go back into pull ups. I would infinitely rather and am happy for him to just night train in his own time, but he is adamant. Really in a dilemma because the bed wetting and washing and wake ups are unmanageable. I’ve got a baby in cloth nappies abs a tiny house. Feels like a damp cold laundry with stuff drying on every surface. Any ideas with how to persuade him it’s okay welcomed.
