Poorly baby / 111

Hello

looking for reassurance as I’m quite upset. Our baby (12 weeks) has been poorly with a sick bug the lack few days, and slept most of the day. She’s fed ok but not massively and went to sleep around 7 ish tonight.

I tried to wake her for her normal dream feed hoping she’d be a little extra hungry due to taking on less food, but she didn’t wake up easily. She was very drowsy and I had to strip her down. She went to bed very pale, and seemed very hard to wake.

we’ve called 111 and they say it’s an emergency, we are waiting for an ambulance. We went through all the questions correctly but could she have been in a really deep sleep?

im currently say away from her as I’m too upset by it all and my husband is with her but she’s gone back to sleep, but his watching her breathing every second. She’s gone back into another deep sleep.

I feel so terrible and worried for her but can’t help also worry that I’m a new mum and overreacting? And the added problem of potentially taking an ambulance off of another family this evening.

im in tears and just want it all to be ok 😭

If you need the ambulance you need it.
I hope baby is better soon x

Always trust your gut if you think something is off with your baby as they can go downhill very quickly at a young age. If she is drowsy and hard to wake for a feed this is deffinately a warning sign you did the right thing don’t feel bad atall I hope she feels better soon.

Have you packed a bag for you both as it's likely you'll be admitted. Remember phone charger, red book etc.

Ds did similar to this at 3 weeks- wouldn't wake at all. GP sent straight to hospital & they never found a reason so it could be nothing BUT he did need observing and especially as she might be dehydrated.

Always better to overreact (not that I think you are) with a small poorly baby. Hope she’s ok.

Hello, as an update. The paramedics came a few hours later (I still felt awful) and they were happy with her stats, but understood why I called 111. She was 35c with all her kit on (babygrow, bag and a mecullar blanket) so they did think that was very strange and agreed she was a very sleepy baby. They offered for her to go in to be monitored or stay at home and speak to a doctor this am, we went for the doctor this am and no sleep for the rest of the night…

My husband thinks I’m overreacting but we’ve recently had covid, and a sickness bug, so I couldn't risk it. She’s so little and precious.

Thank you kind comments.

Have you managed to get an appointment this morning? How is she now? I'd not be happy with a baby that cold and sleepy.
