Two rashes? Opinions

So first of all we saw the GP on Monday who diagnosed DS with a virus.

He has been unwell since Saturday, not himself, crying a lot, hoarse voice, snotty. Then on Monday he came up with a full body rash, similar to heat rash. Also had a high temp and wanted to sleep lots so at this point we went to the doctor (who said virus)
Since then his high temperature has gone and he has continued to improve but the rash is awful, it's raised and red now but he also has these tell tale hand foot and mouth spots around his mouth / chin, hands and bum and Willy area.
Would you take him back to the GP, considering he seems better in himself but the rash (es) looks awful?

Hand foot and mouth, or chickenpox???

buttergloss · 16/11/2022 21:32

I also think hand foot and mouth , poor thing! X

The one on his hand in looks like a typical hand foot and mouth spot, if he's okay now other than the spots I probably wouldn't bother taking him back to the doctors there's nothing they can do for hfm anyway

Hello!
We've just had HFM in our house, pics very similar to yours. My son (22m) was very much back to himself before the rash started to look nasty and sore, it took about 7-10 days to clear. I didn't take him back to the GP. Hopefully it will clear up soon for you too.

Yes I would say HFM.
Even it is there isn't much to be done unfortunately just calpol and waiting for it to pass.

Thanks for the replies!
I don't think chicken pox as most aren't blistering in that way, our other son had chickenpox when this one was 7m old and it didn't look like this (and amazingly he didn't catch it)
