Am I over feeding?

Hi

I’m a first time mum of a 4 week old baby boy - formula fed.
he was born at 8lb 10oz, dropped to 8lb 4oz then was back to 8lb 13oz by day ten. He now weighs around 10lbs.

he takes 120ml (4oz) feeds approx every 3.5 to 4 hrs eg 7am - 10.30 - 2ish - 5.30 - 8.30 - 11.30 and then around 3-4am. This is around 7 feeds but I’ve just read the back of the formula tin while waiting for the kettle to boil and it says for 4oz feeds it’s around 5 a day. This seems not much?

am I over feeding my baby? I know they can’t read and I shouldn’t read to much in to what the tin says but I just want to make sure I’m not over feeding!

thank you!

The guide on the tin is exactly that, just a guide. DS1 was an absolute guzzler and was always far above what is said on the back of the tin. I was worried about over feeding for ages because by the time he was 3 months old he was on 6 7oz bottles a day and it seemed so much. Health visitor and GP were never worried and now he's a tall slim active 3yo with a balanced diet and a love for fruit and veg. Some babies are just hungrier than others.
