DS4 is exhausting

I currently work PT, 3 days a week, and DS starts school in September so I have approx 10 months left of looking after him on my own 2 days a week.

I hate it. We meet up with mum friends on one of the days but we have all usually had enough of the chaos by lunchtime and they all have a younger child who needs a nap. The rest of the time, he's no longer content with the walk into town/go to a café/the park routine but I also can't afford to keep throwing money at it. Today I've managed via £9 for Soft Play and more cash for baking ingredients, but have also had to manage a massive tantrum, him refusing to let me join him doing Lego and running off in Sainsbury's over a toy (I'm mean, apparently), and him breaking into DH's office in the middle of a client call while I went to the toilet. The absolute best thing for his energy levels and sleep is being at preschool.

I don't want to just manage though. I want to enjoy it! Is everyone else savouring the last year before school just lying? What am I so shit at entertaining him?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Do you have a park nearby? Somewhere to scoot or run about?
He sounds like he needs to burn off some energy.

I do, a big one, but it has absolutely poured today (the drain outside our front gate has burst). We went out on his bike the other day and it was 3 hours of me dashing after him which worked for some of the day. Then it was "Where are we going now?"

I dunno, maybe it's the time of year. We have Longleat and NT passes but they're both currently closed Tuesdays.

The most annoying thing is that when DH has him for the day he will sit and watch a Disney film or spend hours doing a Lego model! 😆
