I currently work PT, 3 days a week, and DS starts school in September so I have approx 10 months left of looking after him on my own 2 days a week.
I hate it. We meet up with mum friends on one of the days but we have all usually had enough of the chaos by lunchtime and they all have a younger child who needs a nap. The rest of the time, he's no longer content with the walk into town/go to a café/the park routine but I also can't afford to keep throwing money at it. Today I've managed via £9 for Soft Play and more cash for baking ingredients, but have also had to manage a massive tantrum, him refusing to let me join him doing Lego and running off in Sainsbury's over a toy (I'm mean, apparently), and him breaking into DH's office in the middle of a client call while I went to the toilet. The absolute best thing for his energy levels and sleep is being at preschool.
I don't want to just manage though. I want to enjoy it! Is everyone else savouring the last year before school just lying? What am I so shit at entertaining him?
