Another vulva / front bottom / 'flower' type thread - what, if anything, do you call the clitoris?

DD (3) calls her vulva her front bottom. We are also teaching her that the proper word is vulva.

She's recently been pointing at her clitoris and asking what is that. The sensible part of me wants to tell her, but I have a (paranoid) niggling voice that wonders if other people (teachers etc) will think that her language is 'inappropriate' if she ever mentions it in public.

yes yes, if asked specifically by a child what their clitoris is, id call it a clitoris. and marvel/boggle at their awareness/investigative powers (dont think i ever noticed my clit in childhood either)

I think cock is coarse tbh. DS's nursery used the word tail which I think is rubbish because it is confusing, but he has learnt willy for himself because when you are a big, hard 6yo tail is a bit babyish. DD, I am afraid we have rather skirted the issue

And to the biology lesson person. I didn't realise I had 3 holes either. However I was aware of my vagina, just not my urethra (much more missable), so assumed the wee was coming out of my vag. However last Sunday I explained to my 6yo DS and 3yo DD that girls/ladies do indeed have 3 holes and it is the extra hole that babies are born out of. My SIL is 40+4 weeks pg so relevent topic. Whether they will remember is another issue.

i have taught my DD that is called her penny for now as she doesnt really need to know the proper terminology until she is a bit older and starts asking questions etc (shes 2 tho) it is up to you whether you teach your DD to use the correct language etc and as they are not technically dirty words then you shouldnt have to worry that she will be saying inappropriate words in public IYSWIM
