Hello I will be 50 tomorrow and my middle son is saying they should all stay off school to spend the day with me and husband. I have 3 children all at the same secondary school year 7/11/13. My eldest doesn’t want to miss school and my youngest has just started secondary school . Problem is my son in year 7 and 11 and 1 day off together last week as we’re not well and have had 3 days off this school year so far . What would you do? My middle son is very emotional and says I am only 50 once. Any advice thank you

No. Go to school.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 14/11/2022 12:48

No it’s a school day

FartOutLoudDay · 14/11/2022 12:48

Nope, I wouldn’t. Nice try by your teen though 😁

11yo*!

School. They can have birthday stuff with before and after

TwoRockSalmonAndAHaporthOfChips · 14/11/2022 12:48

Of course they don’t get a day off school. It’s your birthday all day, so have a celebratory meal together when they’re all home.

Is there something more behind this? A Maths test on the day, or some other reason he’d rather not be in school?

No

PeeJayDay · 14/11/2022 12:48

Haha. Nope

TrashyPanda · 14/11/2022 12:49

Nope.

nice try though.

RoseLemon · 14/11/2022 12:49

Eh??

McConkeysPlate · 14/11/2022 12:49

You are 50 for a whole year. Send them to school

vodkaredbullgirl · 14/11/2022 12:49

He wants an excuse for a day off.

Sushi7 · 14/11/2022 12:50

I always went to school on my birthday (unless it was on a weekend). Why is your birthday more important than their schooling? You could celebrate after school or at the weekend.

Athenen0ctua · 14/11/2022 12:50

No, they can have a birthday tea with you after school or celebrate on the weekend surely?!

KenCoff · 14/11/2022 12:50

Err no!
Didn't occur to me that mine would have day off for my 50th or their dads.
Family meal in the evening.

FallingsHowIFeel · 14/11/2022 12:51

Lol. He just wants a day off.

If they want the day off, it’s not really a big deal, but I don’t for a second believe they’re bothered with spending all of mums 50th with her.

itmustbemyage · 14/11/2022 12:52

Your son is trying it on, you do not all need to spend the day together even for a big birthday. Do what everyone else does and celebrate on the nearest weekend if you are having a big get together and a birthday tea on the day with a cake and the children can help plan it with your husband. If you give in it’s going to be constant isn’t it his birthday his siblings birthdays his dad’s birthday if he got one coming up etc etc.

ShouldntHaveBeenSoHasty · 14/11/2022 12:53

He wants a day off school like all kids do. Most parents aren’t gullible enough to fall for it though. Send them to school ffs 😂

Rauha · 14/11/2022 12:53

Nope!

Yika · 14/11/2022 12:54

No way.

KitchiHuritAngeni · 14/11/2022 12:54

Nice try, got to admire him for that really 🤣

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 14/11/2022 12:55

Don’t be daft, your 2 oldest are in exam years!

AuntieMarys · 14/11/2022 12:55

Ridiculous idea

maddy68 · 14/11/2022 12:55

No!

TheRookie · 14/11/2022 12:56

Would you let them stay off for their own birthdays?

I would much rather be at home on my own on my birthday 🤣🤣
