Hello I will be 50 tomorrow and my middle son is saying they should all stay off school to spend the day with me and husband. I have 3 children all at the same secondary school year 7/11/13. My eldest doesn’t want to miss school and my youngest has just started secondary school . Problem is my son in year 7 and 11 and 1 day off together last week as we’re not well and have had 3 days off this school year so far . What would you do? My middle son is very emotional and says I am only 50 once. Any advice thank you

Surely thats what Weekend is for? Dont want to get into a pattern of staying home ,dont think many employers would take too kindly to it! Maybe have a special Supper (Take Out or suchlike ,tomorrow evening) and some cake ,Saturday evening nice Dinner out or Day out .I think he is playing you here!

Tell them you’re 50 for a full year, plenty of time to do something special with you!

Id having words with my year 11 about toughening up

I know we're meant to be all woke and that but come on,what 15/16 year is too emotional to go to schools on their mothers birthday

It's a bit strange tbh! Nice try, off to school you go 🤔

pumpkinelvis · 14/11/2022 15:51

No I wouldn't. I might ask my dh to take the day off for my 40th though and we can go for a child free boozy mid week lunch :-)

No.

RoachTheHorse · 14/11/2022 15:57

No. They should go to school.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 14/11/2022 19:23

How ridiculous! No they don't get a day off for your birthday. Get to school!

Dotcheck · 14/11/2022 19:25

No- for reasons above, and you’ll be on mum duty all day. Hardly a fun day!
