8 month old off milk

Hi everyone

hoping you can help me

My sweet 8 MO DD is off her milk (formula fed). She’ll take some in the morning and some in the evening, and a little in the nighttime but nothing during the day. This means that she is only averaging 14oz (at a push) and it’s getting worse.

We have had to increase her solids because of this… I.e. the lack of milk is not because we’ve upped her solids iyswim.

Shes happy and healthy, wet and dirty nappies (though fewer wet) and a great weight. My concern is that she’s eating less and less milk, but guidelines state 21 oz until 1 YO. At this rate she’ll almost be off the milk entirely by 1yo.

Did anyone else have this problem, any issues for me to carry on taking her lead and reducing milk intake and upping solids, or will this cause longer term problems?

also, any tips to get her to take the milk is appreciated. I tried to add it to her food where possible but she spat it out 😂 she’s really gone off it. I already use the ready to feed stuff as she prefers that over powder, and encouraging her to take water (but it’s been a struggle) honestly at a loss otherwise. Any tips/suggestions?

thanks in advance

Yes, I had this with my baby boy around this age but slightly different as he drank a lot at night instead. You can add multi vitamin drops to the milk and incorporate calcium into meals, like cheese, yoghurt, etc. i think he was just way more interested in his solid food than sat at a bottle but it rectified itself after a tummy bug. He didn't really drink water until he was 11 months despite offering it all the time!

Could switching to faster flow teats help?

I forgot about the faster teats actually, she’s on a number 2 at the moment but I do have some 3s so I’ll give that a go.

Good idea on the multivitamins, hadn’t thought of that. I am trying to do exactly that with the calcium, offering lots yoghurt, whole milk in cereal and cheese! Glad it’s not only my little one that seems to dislike her milk 🙈

Thank you
