Baby illnesses

Anyone had a young baby with gastro/norovirus? I‘ve currently got it and really don’t want her to get it. My husband will probably catch it but just want her to be ok. She’s 5mo and already has a cold bless her.

Also is it normal to have one illness after another with babies? We have no other children but go to classes etc. in the past 4 weeks she’s had 2 colds and hfm 🤦🏻‍♀️ otherwise a happy healthy girl

Yes sadly I think it is pretty normal, especially at this time of year and after the lockdowns we’ve had. We’ve had two colds since sept, one not so bad and one reallllllly awful one, both brought home from nursery by my toddler. Do you know for sure it’s norovirus? It my something else non contagious (fingers crossed!) I think all you can do if she becomes unwell is keep an eye on her and call 111 if concerned. I’m rubbish at dealing with tummy bugs as I hate sick! I hope you feel better soon!

It's really common for babies to catch absolutely everything, especially in the winter. Don't forget they are brand new to the world so their immune system is also brand new and needs to get the bugs to be able to fight them in future.
Just wait until she starts nursery/school Confused
As much as you don't want her to get this sickness bug I would say it will actually probably do her good (in building her immune system) - just make sure you keep her fluids up.

Are you breastfeeding? I BFed both of mine and caught all sorts of nasties, neither of them ever got anything.

DD'1s first proper illness was gastro. She was about seven months and pooing every 15 mins, bless her. No sickness thankfully but still. She was seven months but a lockdown baby so hadn't been to groups, etc and picked the gastro up when we were visiting nurseries. Once she started at nursery she subsequently had a cough/cold constantly for nine months with an episode of hand foot and mouth. Recurrent illnesses are very common when a kid first goes to nursery.

DD2 however, is 3 months and must be on her third cold already. Unavoidable with a toddler sibling in nursery but thankfully they've all been mild. Hopefully my antibodies are looking after her!
