Rash on baby picture

Could anyone advise if this is a heat rash or sweat rash?

Does it blanch/disappear when you press on it? Is your LO generally unwell?

My baby had a similar rash whilst in hospital with a virus. The doctors advised that children can often get rashes when fighting a virus or infection so that's something to consider. Although could also be sweat or hea (I'm not an expert, sorry).

I think it does blanch yes. She is asleep atm so don't want to check !

It's just always there, she also has mucusy poos, not sure if it looks like a cmpa rash ?

My dd was like this and it was eczema. Switched to surcare detergent, and oilatum for baths x

Looks like eczema to me

themiddles · 11/11/2022 20:09

Would eczema only be in one place ? She has it behind her head as well, round her nape of neck and shoulders which is what made me think it could be sweat but it literally never goes away

Have you been to the docs @themiddles? I would recommend getting a professional opinion on such matters, especially a rash in a child so young.

themiddles · 11/11/2022 20:20

@Jaybird43 I saw the hv yesterday who said it looks like heat / sweat rash. I've been to the doctor a couple of weeks ago with concerns about her digestion as I think she has reflux, well I know she does, the doctor fobbed off because she isn't being sick, even though I know there is silent reflux.
I'm planning to get an appointment Monday morning.

The mucus in the poo isn't stopping either, it clears up mostly then she'll have a load more, comes out of her bum like oil sometimes... she always has bad nappy rash too, poor thing

Sorry no she hasn't had a virus or anything, she just always seems unsettled, she is better than she was since we've switched to hipp organic but it's her mucus poos that concern me and this rash aswell

Poor thing! Maybe it’s an allergy rash - def see what the GP on Monday says. Have you tried Aveeno moisturiser to see if that helps? My DD used to have awful eczema as a result of coeliac disease and she spent much of her baby-hood swathed in steroid cream!

Daisy95 · 11/11/2022 20:24

Looks very similar to the rash my little girl had when she had CMPA, especially alongside the mucusy poos.

ABlindAssassin · 11/11/2022 20:37

My son had rashes like this. He has quite a few food allergies and was reacting to traces in my breast milk.

themiddles · 11/11/2022 20:50

Would a food allergy be dairy allergy? Or could it be cmpa? The two are different aren't they ? Isn't a dairy allergy rare in babies ?

OP posts:
ABlindAssassin · 11/11/2022 21:05

My son is allergic to nuts and eggs so I'm not sure, sorry!

Daisy95 · 11/11/2022 21:16

So no, cmpa is cows milk protein allergy which is a milk allergy. A lactose intolerance which is completely different is rare in babies.

themiddles · 11/11/2022 22:34

Yeah I did read about lactose intolerance and how rare it is in babies.
So possible milk allergy then.

Only thing is it wouldn't explain why she's abit better on the hipp organic ?

If anyone else has any experience I'd love to hear it

DD used to get this if she was sick on her clothes and we couldn't change it immediately (cause we were out or whatever). I think her skin was sensitive to the acid.

themiddles · 12/11/2022 08:31

Sorry for the poo picture but this is what her nappies are like

I think its the unsettledness alongside the rash, relux and mucus poos that points to it being worth exploring if it is CMPA.
I'd see your GP if it's what you want, say you want to rule in/out it being CMPA.
Sometimes they might send of a poo sample to check for traces of blood (but I thibk this can happen for other reasons too), they might agree for a 2-6 week trial of an alternative milk. There are a few out there.

themiddles · 12/11/2022 08:59

Yeah I will definitely get an appointment as I just know something isn't right, I've had a baby before and he was so content compared to this one, I know they're all different but she shouldn't be as uncomfortable as she is.

OP posts:
Daisy95 · 12/11/2022 19:30

That's exactly what my daughter poos were like, i think hipp is a gentler formula, so wouldn't explain why she's slighter better. Definitely get an appointment for her xx
