Sleep

Ok I'm really struggling.

After being a great sleeper as a baby and toddler DD age 4 has just become a serious nightmare with sleep.

We have a great routine, pitch black room, no screens just before sleep et. she gets lots of exercise but she's not dropping off until 10 at night. She seems wired!
I lay with her whilst she drops off and I don't mind doing that.

I get that she may not need as much sleep as other kids but she is tired when I wake her at 8am for school.

Any advice?

Wake her earlier for a week and run her absolutely ragged, then put her to bed earlier and leave her to it. Make sure she's getting enough good connection with you in the day, so she's not trying to fill her cup when she should be sleeping

She does like a chat in bed. One thing I was thinking about was going to bed an hour earlier and that way giving her a longer wind down in bed in the dark. But I fear that will mean 2 hours of her rolling about and dicking around.

I think it's time to start putting her to bed alone tbh.
