Ok tried a tots bots today with 5 month dd, folded bit inside put on booster/liner (are these the same thing by the way?) and the wrap. 2hrs later everything was contained within the wrap but was soaking wet and pooh everywhere, is this ok? I know it sounds very stupid but its a whole new world. Also there was pooh on the outside of the wrap from where I took it off can I wash them?

You can wash them. Try not to do so every time as they become less waterproof. There does seem to be loads of wee but its only because we get so used to disposables drawing it away, but it is fine and totally normal

cathshuck · 29/01/2008 19:44

Thanks, feel slightly better. She seemed quite happy, was impressed they kept it all in.

Hi there,

wraps are best washed by hand with alittle bit of soap & warm water, & hang out to dry, they are not good at 40 degree plus or in tumble dryers, the best ones I found were motherease.

FlameNFurter · 29/01/2008 19:56

You might need to yank em up a bit tighter between the legs/round the waist to keep the poo in the nappy

Unless it is soiled, wraps can be used for a 12 hour stretch (different nappy each time ), some people like ot have a couple on the go and alternate for each change to air it out, I've never had the problem though.

Just wash with the nappies - preferably not too hot, don't radiator or tumble dry though.

Sparkly - are your wraps new?? They shouldn't be leaking - where are they leaking, and what type of wraps are they?

soph28 · 29/01/2008 19:59

i have always washed my wraps at 40 and hung them out or on radiator to dry (they dry v quickly). They have not lost their waterproofness!

The nappies usually feel soaking wet but if there is no poo you can usually see that the fleece liner inside doesn't feel nearly as wet as the rest of the nappy as they wick the wee away pretty effectively. You should have less problems with leaky poo as your baby becomes older. I always got more leakage with disposeables anyway!

SparklyGothKat · 29/01/2008 20:00

I have some little lambs, cotton bottoms, and prowraps. I don'tt have a problem with the the cotton bottoms ones or the prowraps, but the little lambs leak everywhere, actually through the wrap. I have just brought some motherease ones from a mumnetter, hope they are better

FlameNFurter · 29/01/2008 20:02

Hmm... that sounds more like the little lambs wraps aren't great (not tried them).

Motherease are definitely the most reliable ones.

Best not to dry on the radiator because it can mess with the PUL over time

SparklyGothKat · 29/01/2008 20:03

where can i get some more cheap motherease wraps?

FlameNFurter · 29/01/2008 20:14
