The scbu midwife recommended aptamil

Yes, we have used Aptamil since 3 days old! No complaints, readily available in lots of shops. I like that I can get a big box in Asda for £17, that lasts over a week compared with the £13 box! Also the premade is convenient and the multi-packs are nice and handy to have in!

Feed your baby however you have to,it’s formula.safe, nutritious and robustly tested
Good luck what ever Is going on

@Leggingslife @FTM2022SS thank you so much! I’m switching over from BF to FF and it’s making me anxious but this is reassuring x

Look it’s formula not crack cocaine. Feed your baby and just relax. No guilt necessary
Irrespective of how you feed your baby bottle or breast you’re a great parent, trying to get by
Congratulations on new baby btw

My baby was on Aptamil then Aptamil comfort, didn't agree with her at all, made her really gassy, constipated and uncomfortable and her poos were awful.

Changed to Hipp and she's been so much better. All babies are different though, you just have to trial and error.

Gibshername · 08/11/2022 20:44

@Zone2NorthLondon i understand but I’m a first time mum and doing it alone, so of course I’m going to be anxious, that’s why I like to get input from other parents, but thank you! :)

@VeronicaFranklin thank you :)

I’m not telling you off! I’m trying to reassure you😀 it’s only formula not cocaine
Be mindful some on mn have very strident views regard formula and they are fierce in pursuing their agenda

Gibshername · 08/11/2022 20:50

@Zone2NorthLondon sorry, I blame my lack of sleep 😃 thank u, I’ll be mindful x

No worries, we have all been there😀

First Steps Nutrition has a great, evidence based and unbiased guide to formula and you can find out about all the brands, how they are made and what is in them.

There is little difference between brands, just who came up with the best advertising! All brands from the really expensive Aptamil to the own brand Aldi have the same basic formula and nutritional content, even Kendamil which largely sells itself on being made in the Lakes (aspirational advertising).

Essentially, have a read on First Steps and then pick any first stage milk that is readily available local to you.

They're all much of a muchness. More expensive doesn't mean it's better

somethingslastforever · 08/11/2022 21:01

Try it and see how baby gets on. Whilst the bulk of the ingredients and vitamins are the same they don't all agree with babies. The only thing my DS settled on was HiPP Organic

LoopDiL00p · 08/11/2022 21:02

We started on Aptamil. Got on well with it, but swapped to Cow and Gate soon after as it was a lot cheaper and I figured they'll be pretty much the same anyway.

Gibshername · 08/11/2022 21:05

Thank u everyone x

Both mine have been on Aptamil no issues. Depends on your little one I surpose 😊

Magssss · 08/11/2022 21:07

All 4 of mine I’ve mixed fed with breast milk and aptamil and they all swapped very happily between the two! No issues at all

dementedpixie · 08/11/2022 21:14

Cow and Gate is made by the manufacturer of Aptamil. I also used aptamil with ds but swapped to Cow and Gate as it was cheaper.

Gibshername · 08/11/2022 21:59

Thank you everyone! X

Hello..

my baby is 12 weeks old and we have struggled with feeding from the start but he seems to be getting worse.

he was combi fed for 5 weeks (mostly formula) and formula fed since. We have used aptamil right through but he has always been sick after his bottles. Sometimes a little sometimes a lot! He also only poo’s every 2-4 days. The past few days his vomiting and balking seem to be getting worse so we have swapped him to aptamil advanced last night but he is still vomiting a lot and it smells like proper sick. I am just wondering if this is normal, reflux or he is genuinely sick? And what’s best to help him.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 21/08/2023 20:23

@Kaismama do you think it could be Cow's Milk Protein Allergy?
