Toddlers hates having his poo cleaned up

So we're potty training, little M is getting better on the wee front, his hit rate for asking for the potty for a wee is almost 90%
Now it's the poo we have trouble with.
We won't often do it on the potty, more often it's the luck of timing
He'll often do a poo in his pants, hide, deny he's done it, and then refuse to get cleaned up.
Today he said that's he's scared of his poo...I managed to clean him up through distraction with the good old Clangers

Does anyone else face similar?
How can I show him the poo in the potty is awesome?

My little girl didn't like to poo on the potty. Id tell her she could have a nappy on to do it if she wanted so she didn't get stressed about it. Then she decided to try doing it on the toilet. She now is happy to poo in the toilet but still won't go on the potty.

Just a word of warning, try to not let him get scared of doing a poo at all. I wish someone had warned me about the risks of toddler constipation and poo withholding. It's a nightmare.

There's a lot of good books aimed at children that explain the digestion process, "come out mr poo" was one that really clicked with our son. There's also an app our HV recommended called "poo goes home to pooland". Rewards were what cracked it for us though, collectable rewards! We had 4 toilet poos in one day when he knew what he might get.
