Switch lite for 5 yo

Hello, Looking for advice.

I have a 5 year old (6 in 7 months) who loves games on a tablet and tech on xbox ect, likes watching us play games but equally loves stories.

So me and DH are stuck, he thinks DC won't be able to play the switch and it's too complex (although i think dc is a clever kid, can problem solve quite quickly). We also like the Yoto mini currently, it's a smaller portable box like Toonies but with cards.

Any advice or anyone's kids same age bracket and bought a switch? I'm so old I had an original gameboy that was a brick but forgot how old i was to appreciate it 😅 Thanks

In my opinion, if they can use an Xbox they can use a switch no problem.
My DD was 7 when we got her switch but had been using Xbox before that

My 4.5 DS plates the 7 age switch games with my DS8 and seems to get on fine so I'm sure your DS will love it :)

My 7 year old dd has the switch (not the lite version but the console which can also be used as handheld like the lite ) she has it since she was 4 and loves it. Honestly if you can afford it get the full console and not the lite version. There's more games options for the full console, I've friends that bought the lite for their kids and regretted not getting the full console. We bought extra controllers and me, dp, dd (13) and dd (7) have game nights playing Mario party or Mario cart, it's tonnes of fun on dreary rainy evenings. We get so competitive lol. We also have the xbox one and the xbox X but dd (7) prefers her switch...

DS will be 4 in January and has been able to play his cousin’s Switch for around 6 months. I’d expect the average 5 year old to pick it up no problem.
