Starting weaning- how much food to give?

We have just started weaning our (almost) 6 month old.

He wasn’t keen on carrot yesterday but loved banana today, he just kept opening his mouth for more! We stopped after about 6tsps but he would have had more.

Is it okay to just let him eat as much as he wants or is there a portion size at this age?

We’re doing a mixture of finger foods and purées but so far he hasn’t been particularly interested in the finger food.

Absolutely let them eat as much as they want. (I doubt much is actually Ingested at that age anyway) babies/toddlers are really good at self regulating how much or little they eat. Likewise never pressure them to eat something they don't want to, or force them to clear a plate for example.

I'd really recommend following Solid Starts on Instagram for brilliant weaning advice. DD 16months is an amazing eater thanks to their advice.

Are you offering food roughly and hour after milk @TunaJacket?

If so, it's fine to let them have as much as they want. DC under 2 self regulate with food so some days will want a lot and other days may not Wink
