Anyone given birth with a prolapse?

Copied from pregnancy section as I know most woman could be first time mums due to give birth on there.

This is my second pregnancy and I have developed a prolapse half way through. Didn't have it with my first or after my first it's only developed now.

Midwifes aren't concerned but it looks terrible. I don't know what to do! They said they can see my vagina wall. It's really scaring me now about giving birth. Has anyone else had this? It looks terrible to me as I have never seen anything like this before. I am 34 weeks pregnant.

Hello, I didn’t want to read and run.

I have a rectocele (partial rectal prolapse, where the rectum protudes into the vagina) It’s not great but is manageable, and 2 years on from having 2nd baby (both vaginally) I think it’s improving with exercise. It will always be an issue though.

if I had noticed prolapse during pregnancy like you have, I personally would really question giving birth vaginally.

can you contact some private Pelvic physios and get them to look, and give you an opinion?

maybe a c section would avoid further prolapse.. this is just a suggestion though, I don’t have direct experience of this

good luck x

I have. Developed it in between my first and second. It got a lot worse during pregnancy and I was worried about a vaginal birth but that had no extra impact and then everything tightened up again afterwards and it went back to manageable. I hardly notice it now it has mostly gone back - think it will eventually get worse during menopause and notice if I dont do kegels for a while but otherwise good.

I’m in same boat! It looks awful and I questioned giving birth I’ve spoken with several different Mw and gp and consultants and all said the same thing that I can give birth naturally and don’t need a C-section

interested to hear others on this too
have you had any more information either?

@drinkwithanumbrellainit Sorry to revive an old thread but I’ve developed a uterine prolapse a few years after a vaginal birth with my first, just as we started TTC #2. If you don’t mind answering, how did you find TTC your second after having the prolapse in between?
