Hi everyone

so today my midwife said it looks like my baby has posterior tongue tie … did anyone else have this and get it snipped? I want to get it snipped but if I do, will it cause problems with speech or solids in the future? :(

Hi, mine had the same and got it snipped at 6 weeks. It took a few seconds and he didn't even cry when they did it! He's been much better with feeding since I'm so glad I had it done. Loads of people say not getting it snipped can cause speech/eating problems, but apparently research shows it doesn't affect it too much but it can cause other problems!
Feel free to ask any questions x

My god daughter had hers snipped at 6 weeks. Transformed her ability to eat and thus to sleep.

she’s now 2 and chatters away very clearly. She also eats really well and has done from when she was quite small.

Yes DD1 had hers snipped at 14 weeks - took ages for it to be diagnosed.

DD2 had one too, snipped at a week old. Had a far far easier time of feeding and sleeping with DD2!

As a pp says, NOT snipping it can cause issues with speech, dental development, ENT issues etc - depending on how severe it is and how the mouth/jaw are formed.

@Leelee33x My DD is also suspected to have a TT and I’m doing my research. Do you mind if I ask whether or not you had the TT released and if so have you noticed any difference in you baby?
