Lego set recommendation

Can anyone recommend a 'big, challenging' Lego set for my 8 year old (his words). He is very good at following the instructions and for him it's more about the building than the playing with the ultimate result. Up to £150 and he doesn't like technic

Is there something he particularly likes (Harry Potter, Cars, Marvel, Star Wars, minecraft?) as there are some fantastic sets available within those themes. Have a look at the Lego website and also Smyths toys as they have some great offers on Lego often. My son is older but has always enjoyed the modular building sets but it really depends on what your son is interested in.

The campervan is a fun build.

Lego do radio controlled train sets that come with the train, track and accessories, controlled by a hand-held controller. I think they're around £150 or so.

Lego ninjago sets are brilliant

Star Wars or one of the big Minecraft sets maybe? Or perhaps the big Bowser from Mario

My DS age 9 (massive Lego fan!) says set 10497 - it’s a 1980s retro style spaceship they released for Lego’s 90th birthday, about £90.

He also says the Home Alone house, but that’s too much money - about £200.

They’re both age rated 18+ but my son has managed them no problem - he’s quite steady and methodical with Lego.

He very much approves of your son’s criteria! 😂
